Crisp-tender green beans, toasted almonds, and a touch of butter—this classic side dish couldn’t be easier. It’s the kind of recipe you’ll keep coming back to, whether for busy weeknights or special gatherings.

Instructions

  1. Place a large skillet over high heat. Add olive oil (1 Tbsp) and butter (1 Tbsp) and heat until shimmering.

  2. Add shallot (1 small) and sauté for four minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add garlic (3 cloves) and bacon, sauté until bacon (2 slices) begins to crisp, approximately five minutes.

  4. Add almonds ( cup), stirring often, until almonds begin to toast, approximately three minutes.

    Add 1 tablespoon butter if the mixture seems dry.

  5. Add green beans (1 lb) and toss with the almond/bacon mixture until heated through, about four minutes.

  6. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
